The cartridges should only be used in the dispensers to produce whipped cream. Any direct contact of your body with N2O may lead to severe short and long-term consequences. They can cause irreversible damage to your health.
Blue Flag holds the right to refuse to sell if the products are found to be used for anything other than whipped cream dispensers.
What is Nitrous Oxide?
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas or sweet air, is a colorless and odorless gas. When inhaled, it can produce short-lived dissociative effects such as euphoria, analgesia (pain relief), and anesthesia. It is also known as a depressant drug as it slows down the body’s functions.
What are the various effects of N2O on the human body?
Inhaling nitrous oxide can lead to a decrease in blood pressure, which can be dangerous if you have low blood pressure or certain heart conditions. It can also cause dizziness, lightheartedness, and fainting.
On top of this, it can lead to various short-lived effects:
  • Irritation in the respiratory tract: One may also experience discomfort in the chest and a burning sensation in the nose and throat.
  • Nausea: Some people may feel nauseous after inhaling nitrous oxide.

  • Headache: Nitrous oxide reduces oxygen flow to the brain, which can cause headaches.

  • Nerve damage: Prolonged exposure to nitrous oxide can lead to Vitamin B12 deficiency. Thus, damaging the nerves, leading to numbness and tingling in the extremities.
  • Bone marrow damage: Nitrous oxide can reduce the production of red blood cells, which can lead to anemia.

What are the ways to stay safe from N2O exposure?
There are a few things you can do to stay safe from exposure to nitrous oxide.

  • Do not use nitrous oxide cartridges outside of the whipped cream dispenser.
  • Do not use nitrous oxide for anything other than its intended purpose (producing whipped cream).
  • Avoid using nitrous oxide if you have low blood pressure or certain heart conditions.
Withdrawal from N2O: If you have been regularly using nitrous oxide and wish to quit, it is critical to seek medical help as there may be some withdrawal symptoms. These include anxiety, depression, insomnia, and tremors.
